I have managed to fix the problem by deleting and reinstalling the drivers. thank you for the help provided

I am running Windows 8.1 64 bit My GPU is gtx 780ti and its the latest driver that was available It shows up as a generic PNP monitor when you look at the drivers and while under the colour management settings

I recently purchased a new monitor Asus VG248QE and when I look at the device manager it shows up as a generic PNP is there a way to change this driver so my monitor will work correctly as at the moment it is causing a lot of tearing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
