Looking for a good entry-mid level camera below 1200$ for event and landscape shots.

A new, full-frame (24mm x 36mm) sensor is going to break your budget. You could pick up a used Nikon D610 within your budget- but many people prefer new. KEH camera sells the D610 used, with warranty $1100~$1200. New prices, ~$1500. Price does not include lens, figure another $100 for an entry...

    Adapter for pentax K1

The Pentax K-1 is an SLR, K-Mount- the flange distance is 45.46 mm. Micro-43 is 19.25 mm. Even if you had an adapter, the lenses could only be used for extreme close-up. Invest in K-Mount lenses for the camera, many are available inexpensively. You can pick up a 50/1.4 Manual focus lens for...

insufficient memory to initialize windows 4gb

I've had good luck running WIN98se with 1GByte, the machine has 3GBytes. Cut the maxphypage back to 512MBytes as suggested here. Oddly enough- booted into Real Mode, Phar Lap Extended DOS will use all 4GBytes. I'm running 3.4GBytes on a Panasonic CF-52 running PharLap DOS 8.0.

The 10 Best Photo Storage and Sharing Sites

I cannot remember another site doing what PHOTOBUCKET did: years of allowing users to post images on web forums, then changing TOS to want $400 a year for what was a free service. This broke a lot of forums. The smarter forums download images once a thread is posted to prevent this BLACKMAIL...

    Upgrading from BIOS to UEFI

I've made several Bootable USB sticks, CF cards, and SD cards using HPUSBDISK. I have best luck using smaller devices, 2GBytes or so. I use the Windows 98se real-mode DOS bootfiles. I use Win7 to create the bootable devices.

    Windows 98 Concept

Agree with Jeff! I'm sending out another box with a P-III running DOS, sent out a bunch of 8-bit stuff two weeks ago. Clear out the basement and let some students play with this stuff.

change hard drive type dell dimension 4600?

I solved this problem for a Panasonic CF-52 by downloading the SATA drivers to disk of a different computer and using the free version of "nlite" to add the drivers to the XP install and create a new install CD. The original XP installation did not have the drivers to access USB devices during...

downloading xp drivers, message doesn't exist

What format are you using for the USB device? Windows XP should be able to support older USB devices, formatted as FAT-32. It might not work with some of the newer, larger formats. I seem to recall having to format a 64GByte USB drive as FAT-32 before it could be used on the XP machine. SO...

Is there a legal way to force Windows XP 32bit to use all my memory?

The address space on Pentium Pro and newer 32-bit processors is "segmented" using the ES,SS,CS,DS,FS,GS (from my old memory) Segment Registers to extend beyond the 32-bit program counter and data addresses. Addresses are used in 4GByte segments, but multiple segments can be used within one...

    Trouble activating and updating SP1

You should be able to use the automated call center, number given on your activation window. I re-installed XP on a couple of laptops last month. I downloaded SP3 from the link given on this thread...

Netbook windows XP reinstall failing. "A disk read error occurred".

I've had problems using USB devices for Windows XP installs- once XP starts running setup, it switches over to using its own drivers. XP out of the box does not have the USB drivers needed to continue running... I have a USB Floppy which i used for "extra drivers" for a SATA drive. Initially XP...

    Install Windows 98

Computers of that age did not boot off USB ports. The trick was to either get a bootable Win98 CD, or install DOS (or older Windows) on the hard drive and load drivers for the CD to be accessible. After that- run setup. My most agonizing install, YEARS ago- Had a Bootable Win95 CD, installed W95...
