[SOLVED] Will this build have enough PCI-e lanes / bandwidth ?

I'm planning a new video editing PC build, and am confused about the CPU / Chipset PCI-e lanes and how contention / shared bandwidth affect the speed of PCI-e components. I list my build below (relevant components only). Please point out if any of my PCI-e components will run below their max...

[SOLVED] Should I build or buy a gaming PC?

Like with everything else in life, there are pros and cons to both options :) If you get a pre-built PC, yes, they will likely put in cheaper or outdated parts, unless you get to configure it yourself. But then, they will be responsible for any problems that occur down the road (within the...

[SOLVED] Problem with my new Hard Drive

Ah, so one of those partitions is the problem. But then, the question is - how did that second one get there ? Sounds like a used drive. Anyway, if you didn't create that 2nd partition, go ahead and delete the volume using Windows Disk management, leaving the primary Windows partition intact...

[SOLVED] Problem with my new Hard Drive

The easiest way would be to buy an external enclosure or USB adapter cable and connect it to your PC, as you would connect any other USB flash drive. It should then show up as a drive and you can browse it in Windows File Explorer. Assuming the drive itself hasn't died. How big is your old...

[SOLVED] Problem with my new Hard Drive

Open the Disk manager utility on Windows and see how many volumes/partitions are there on this hard drive. Are there any recovery partitions or anything like that ? Even if there are, those usually don't take up more than 10-20 GB. What is the filesystem format of the drive ? NTFS, FAT32, etc ...

[SOLVED] If I gave you $2000 to build your best PC what would you build?

Whether it's "enough" or not depends on what it's used for, I suppose. I think what the other person (and I) was referring to is perhaps the fact that, if you're willing to spend so much, it makes sense to compromise on something else and somehow fit a 9700K in there.

[SOLVED] If I gave you $2000 to build your best PC what would you build?

Wish I had an uncle like you :D And like someone else said, yes, thanks so much uncle bob, but a 9700k would have been great !

    Hosting on hostinger.com - your opinions/experiences ?

Hi Ralston, Thanks for the response. You make some good points about things to consider. However, I think I wasn't clear in my original post ... sorry about that :) To clarify, I have already been using Hostinger's free service - 000webhostapp.com, which is basically their "try us for free"...

    [SOLVED] New build help please.

Apart from compatibility, Cooling - Look at how many fan headers it has (i.e. connectors to power and control your case fans). Data ports/connectors (USB, SATA, M.2) - Look at how many front/rear USB ports it offers, for instance. I've noticed that MSI, ASUS, and Gigabyte generally differ in...

[SOLVED] How to determine SATA link speed (SATA II or SATA III) ?

Thank you to everyone ! HWInfo is awesome ... dunno why I never used it before :) Yes, I'm aware that the Seagate drive will not be able to actually run at SATA III (or even II) speeds. I'm actually more interested in the connector than the drive, because I will likely put an SSD in that same...
