Question Would like some help understanding the relationship with fps and upscaling with FSR.

It's more about efficiency than anything else. I haven't messed with the voltages or any of that because I'm afraid of voiding my warrenty. The CPU gets into the mid 80s and the GPU into the lower 90s when gaming for long periods or doing rendering. If I ramp up the GPU fans to about 70%...

Question Would like some help understanding the relationship with fps and upscaling with FSR.

My moniter(tv) has a maximum refresh of 60hz @ 4k, and 120hz @ 1080p. At native resolution, I can get 60fps with 99% around 50 with my xtx7900. Without modifying my fan curve I get pretty warm. My main questions are if I set my native resolution to 1080 120hz and upscale it to 4k, would it be...

Question Time to retire my Corsair AX 760 for a new GPU?

It's about time to retire my GPU. My PSU is over 10 years old now. It has performed flawlessly. I'll be getting a new AMD 7900 XT or XTX to replace it. Have a 5900x CPU. The PSU and GPU are my only holdovers from my last upgrade. PSU fell out of warrenty a few years ago. I've never pushed it...

    [SOLVED] Upgrading a friends PC

Well, the gpu is the weakest link as far as anything is concerned. It will play LoL and stream movies and other desktop tasks with no real issue. Not knowing what you were upgrading from it's hard to know if you would really see an appreciable improvement in performance, but at least it will...

Question I'm using 2 graphics controllers but should I be?

My gpu is an r9 fury, my mobo is an Msi meg x570 unify. This is my first system with capabilities beyond legacy bios. I downloaded basically "everything" MSI related and AMD related and kinda just let them do their thing. The biggest issues i seem to be having are scaling to fullscreen with...

[SOLVED] If My System Posted, Do I Need to Update Bios?

Listen to the mods. Bedside manner aside, they're not gonna steer you wrong. Bios is super easy to update on modern boards at any rate. Just be patient and make sure you understand the steps.

Question Why can I upgrade now?

I guess that kinda makes sense. I tried manually turning it on in my UEFI but the options were grayed out prior to bios update and I never checked if that changed when I did it. Only checked the revision number. I'll just accept it and be glad I don't have to but a $35 chip.

Question Why can I upgrade now?

I recently upgraded some parts about a month ago to catch up with the times. When I first did this, I was unable to upgrade to win 11 due to not having a TPM module installed. Looked it up and lo and behold it's a seperate chip i can purchase. So I figure I'll just order it when I get a new gpu...

Question Can I store games on USB instead of the "cloud" without issue?

So, i have a lot of digital games. Several TB worth. I figure i can use usbs as a cartridge of sorts to store my games and load them on to my ssd with a usb thumb instead of the internet. I'm thinking it's just drag and drop into the right location and back again when I need the room. Or even...

So, I am getting some new parts for my pc. Mostly a new processor and mobo. My current system can't run win 11 and I just want to make sure I do this right. I backup my system to a usb drive. I format my SSD. I take apart and replace parts. I boot into bios and install my backup to ssd. I...

[SOLVED] Overclocking my gpu with a trash power supply

A high quality PSU can overcome poor quality VRMs and other inept hardware issues far better than quality hardware can overcome a trash PSU. I agree with not trying until ypu get a better psu.

    [SOLVED] General gaming/hardware questions

Well, right now I'm running an obsolete AM3 platform that I'm looking to upgrade to current or next gen so I'm looking at a whole new system minus the case and PSU. (Generic mid tower and corsair ax 760 platinum) I also don't have an exact timeframe, but 2022 at the latest.
