Was considering this upgrade for the sole purpose of gaming... is it worth it? Looking for a big performance boost.

I have noticed that a lot of new games have various performance issues and was wondering if it could be my CPU responsible GTX 1060 6GB FX 6300 corsair 16gb pc3 10700 ram for example I get a lot of stutter lag with the new mass effect, and the new deus ex can get a bit laggy from time to time...

Thinking about getting a gtx 970 but I have heard some worrying things from the reviews section here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487076 Complaints about the card breaking down quickly, temps of 100c, other stuff... is there truth to this? And if so does it apply to...
