    480 is advertised to be 200USD in the US, so I'm assuming it will be considerably more expensive where you're from considering the 950 can be bought for 140USD in the US. If 200 is your budget then you've already answered your own question, go with the 950.

    798Mhz I'm assuming you took from CPUZ and need to multiply it by two. Get another stick of ddr3 to take advantage of dual channel; fairly cheap single sticks on amazon right now. What is your budget? What kind of games do you play? What kind of gamed do you want to play?

    Have you tried troubleshooting the hardware in a different system to make sure its all viable before jumping to driver conclusions?

    Do you have the hardware laying around between the two of you to troubleshoot the hardware on his computer? make sure the hardware is still viable before thinking about the drivers.

    Have you tried a clean install of windows 7 and just letting windows update install the drivers? Also, were you getting the drivers from AMD or from the manufacturer's website?
