it goes though a display port to a HDMI adapter, so will that work? (my monitors don't have a display port input)

I'm wanting to know if I can put a HDMI cable into one monitor and a display port in the other, i will need to use an adapter (display port to hdmi) beacuse both monitors dont have a display port. I'm wanting to get two different desktops one for each monitor, Will this work?
