    ASUS M5A88V-EVO and RAID 5

I'm hoping the expertise here can help resolve a problem / question that ASUS tech support is apparently having trouble comprehending. I'm trying to find out how one can make a RAID of 4 drives without using ports 5-6. I can't see how one can do that. The esata port being port 4 raises two...

    Raid setup on windows 7

FWIW: I wound up backing up to an external drive, installing an IDE drive for the system drive (since I wanted to keep all 4 SATA connections for RAID 5), and restoring. Then I could make the RAID a GPT drive.

    File Server/Mini Computer Build

How did this work out? If you haven't built it yet, you might want to look a =slightly= larger MB that would give you a second PCI-E slot for a SATA card (straight PCI is going to limit your throughput more than you might like). For only a few dollars more, you might consider something along...

    File Server/Mini Computer Build

Having just learned a school-of-hard-knocks lesson (due to "I didn't know what I didn't know"), be careful about your choice of file systems..... Raid setup on windows 7

Thanks for the info. I have an MSI GF615M-P33 v1.3 motherboard with Nvidia 7025 and Nforce 630a+. I set up a RAID 5 array at the BIOS / RAID setup level using 4 2TB drives, and want to be able to boot from it. When Windows 7 installed, it clearly saw the single large array, but once installation...

What are you planning to use for an operating system? (Linux/FreeNAS? Windows Home Server? Other?)

ASUS A8V-Deluxe & Windows 7 - No Network Cable Connected Issue

For what it's worth, I have a run of the mill ASUS A8V-Deluxe (WITHOUT the "E"/wireless). I am running Win7 Home Premium with 3MB of RAM and the built-in Marvell NIC with the Win7-supplied driver working fine at 1GB. I've experimented with BIOS versions from 14 to 18.2 (beta, apparently never...
