    Lag when opening files

Sounds like the PC is accessing the network for something prior to opening file. Is this PC part of a domain? Resource Monitor might be able to help you.

OnHub Router From Google And TP-Link Sets To Simplify Wi-Fi Life

What about IPv6? Given Google's dislike of DHCPv6, I'm curious if they did the 'right' thing here.

Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus And iOS 8 Off To A Rough Start

Common sense says wait until a new product or OS or patch has been out for a while before buying, installing, or applying it. Let others work out the bugs. But no, Apple fans wait in line to be the first to own it. Paying big bucks to be a beta tester is not very bright.

Amped Wireless Updates AC1900 Routers, Packs 8 Radios

This sounds a lot like marketing hype. You can't sell a device that exceeds the FCC limits on power output combined with antenna gain to my knowledge. However, if anyone can make a wireless router that works with my flakey Galaxy S4 running 4.3, I'd love it to death!!

Some People Are Smashing Their PS4s Right After Purchase

I doubt they're just individuals. Sounds like a group of people put a pool together to pull it off. Or maybe it's Sony just trying to get more publicity. Or maybe it's Microsoft just having fun.

Samsung Reveals Shiny Gold Galaxy S4

Does Tom's Hardware really need to report on phones coming out in a new color, but no other changes? That's not tech news. It's dumb crap that the Kardashians (and wanna bes) care about.

Verizon Answering to FCC Over Nexus 7 "Block"

A network is a complex thing. Wireless is extremely hard to do, compared to normal wired networking. I can't blame Verizon for wanting to test a device before allowing it on the network. All vendors do this. If you don't you're asking for a world of hurt.

    Hijacking the network at Work

Unless it's worth risking your job, I wouldn't do it. There are lots of ways for IT to detect your non-company-issued device, even if you change the MAC address of the router, etc. A simple wireless IDS would detect what you're doing as well.

Samsung May Be Adding Kill Switch for Stolen Smartphones

Wouldn't all the current stolen phones end up as being sold for parts anyway? I can't imagine a Verizon store is going to activate a Verizon phone when it shows up in the DB as stolen. Or do they electronically change the IEMI?

Samsung Launches Galaxy S4 Inductive Charging Kit at $90

Gigabit Wireless? Five 802.11ac Routers, Benchmarked

iknowhowtofixit"Folks, the time to start your 802.11ac adoption is now."I think this review proved that it is time to wait for 2nd generation wireless AC routers to appear before rushing to purchase. Exactly. The 'client' adapter they used if anyone didn't catch it was a Cisco/Linksys...

HTC Blames 2012's Lack of Success on Marketing

Not sure who to blame for the Thunderbolt fiasco. I had one, worked well til June of last year, then it sucked. Not sure if HTC is to blame, or if Verizon managed to suckify it. They swapped it, suggested SIM card. Finally replaced that with Droid Bionic, which had same symptoms. Finally...
