Update: This worked for me - the burner is also an LG: I deleted only the one Lower Filter instance (there are many of them at other locations) at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} There was no Upper Filter item at that location.

Just had this problem yesterday on a brand new Compaq with Win 7 64 bit. It seems that the solution is to delete the Upper and Lower Filters in the Registry. I haven't tried this yet but will soon. See if this link helps: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
