    Make sure "restricted extras" are enabled in software sources, see: https://linuxhint.com/install_multimedia_codecs_ubuntu/ However I use VLC and don't worry about any compatability issues. As far as VPN's, I use Proton VPN Free and used it briefly in ubuntu, (but no longer use it in linux)...

    I only use LTS versions (20.04 currently) and wait at least until the first major update which would make it 20.04.1. Ubuntu numbers their versions as year, month (20.04 is 2020.April) and the first major update usually comes out in the summer. This LTS is good until 2025 ( 5 year support) but...

    Question Ubuntu vs Netflix

    Just tried it using 20.04 on a 2009 Dell 1545 and no problems. I didn't go through the sign up as I don't particularly like Netflix, but Amazon works just fine.

    I bought an HP "refurb" from Newegg back in March and was able to get all sorts of manuals and info direct from the HP site. I strongly recommend that you find your HP model number and go to the HP site for a plethora of info.
