    290x and A8-6600k too much for 450w

Tried some more things, unplugged internal hard drive (just to be sure), took out and replaced the battery, took out the GPU. Still no luck running off onboard graphics. Screen just goes into power saving mode. And this is an old monitor; it's not CRT, but it's VGA only. I think early 2000's...

    290x and A8-6600k too much for 450w

Okay, I will try connecting to the motherboard with the GPU removed. But this has never worked for me in the past unfortunately. Maybe it will this time, because when I tested it on one monitor it kept telling me "check video cable" when I plugged into the card, but trying the onboard it went...

    290x and A8-6600k too much for 450w

I'm in the process of trying to change out a video card and motherboard and keep getting "no signal." I tried it on VGA, HDMI, and DVI-D and none work. I tried on two monitors that had been tested and worked before. All the components work fine, except the motherboard and video card are new...

    GTX 780 Loud when Idle

Thanks for your suggestions. It seems I have a new problem now that I'm not sure if it is related to the GPU or not, so I'm going to start a thread specifically for that.

    GTX 780 Loud when Idle

Okay, this is incomprehensible. I almost give up. When my computer case is closed the system takes significantly longer to boot up and shut down. (minutes compared to seconds). But when I have one panel off the case the system runs perfectly! Is it blocked airflow? A connection loosed by the...

    GTX 780 Loud when Idle

Not sure which version of Precision, I tried all the tabs after right clicking and only get that it is EVGA Precision X. The card selected in 780. It doesn't detect another one.

    GTX 780 Loud when Idle

All right, I'm not sure what is going on now. I decided to check and see if the card was seated properly. I did that and the next time I booted up, it started clicking, but the fans weren't going crazy. I figured maybe a cable or something was causing the clicking. So I opened the case again...

    GTX 780 Loud when Idle

Ahh, didn't see your 2nd answer Chucky9. I will try that and let you know how it goes.

    GTX 780 Loud when Idle

I didn't buy the card to overclock, so there's no need to worry about that. Unfortunately, this is not something that lasts a couple minutes. I've been surfing the Internet for 15 minutes looking for an answer and the fans are still full blast. Just with the windows screen, this page, and...

    GTX 780 Loud when Idle

Pretty much what the title says: I bought a GTX 780 and it is not running quietly at all. I haven't even tried it with anything intensive yet and it sounds like the fans are running at 100%. I'm not OCing or anything. I have EVGA Precision and switched the fans to the minimum and unchecked...

New build problem with OS installation, possibly SSD (SOLVED)

Okay, so an update: I tried another internal hard drive to a different SATA connector with a different cable. Still getting the same errors. 2nd update: Just in case anybody runs into this problem, I managed to get XP installed by changing the SATA settings in the BIOS to IDE.

New build problem with OS installation, possibly SSD (SOLVED)

Well, I took another look at the manual and found that I attached the drives to the wrong ports (data only). Now they are attached correctly and the BIOS recognizes them, but... still can't install an operating system.

New build problem with OS installation, possibly SSD (SOLVED)

Yes, it is fully powered. Tried a different cable with no change. I have a Bluray drive attached via SATA as well. The funny thing is the BD drive works perfectly, but is not detected either.

New build problem with OS installation, possibly SSD (SOLVED)

So this is my first time building my own computer (and posting here too). I really thought I'd have to post here sooner as I had so many issues building the system (CPU/mobo incompatibility, RAM installed incorrectly, etc). But thanks to having a laptop w/ Internet, I was able to find the...
