That's a bit of a weird power supply. It's got a proprietary 12 pin motherboard connector, but according to the pictures it also has one 6 pin and one 8 pin PCIe connector. So yes. That should work. You just gotta find them and plug them into the card after you install it into the graphic card slot.

You can test it in that PC using the hirens boot cd and booting to Parted Magic and testing that way, or as you described plug it into a desktop pc via sata connection or external enclosure. The GeForce website says a 400w is recommended in a build with an i7, but it really depends on how many amps are on the 12v rail. That PSU says it has 2 rails with 16 on the first and 17 on the second for a combined 33. Sources say the 960 only needs 20, so it should be fine.

I'd say yes, it's worth it for the $10 extra. I don't know about 1080p 60 though. BF4 and ARMA3 are two good examples where CPU usage is more than other games. I recommend dishing out an extra $60 for the i5-6500. That should put you in a nice buffer zone
