I had an AMD FX 6300 CPU with a GTX 970 (4gb) graphics card, and it ran just great! Only around an 8fps bottleneck on stock 3.5, but perfect for the GTX 970 when overclocked to 4.1GHz.

Does a closed case improve & assist airflow to all of the individual components, as opposed to running a PC with its side panels off? With the side panels off, could this improve the airflow to the system, or decrease fan performance? Thanks!
