Review Nextorage NE5N SSD Review: One Thick SSD

Maybe you guys haven't seen a modern motherboard from the Z790 or X650E families. Motherboard makers have moved the Gen5 SSD slot to above the first PCIe slot to allow for increased heatsinks and virtually unlimited vertical space for coolers...

News Other PCIe 5.0 SSDs are Also Crashing Instead of Throttling

There is already work being done on PCIe cards for Gen5 drives where you can fit several M.2 drives on a single card. Gigabyte has already announced one. As for m.2 being dead for future use (another comment above), there is also a PCI-SIG doc with a new connector that increases the power...

News Other PCIe 5.0 SSDs are Also Crashing Instead of Throttling

When there is a bus increase to the flash speed you will see an increase. So this Gen5 drive has the newest Micron B58R flash. The random performance increase will carry over to Gen4. You will just be capped at Gen4 sequential performance. You will get the best Gen4 performance with this Gen5...

News First PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSDs Are Now Available, Predictably Expensive

Forspoken didn't take advantage of GDeflate. In my personal opinion, they used just enough DS features to call it a DS game, but that is just my personal opinion as someone that has never built a game before. You really can't say you played a full feature DS game yet. As far as the heatsinks...

News First PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSDs Are Now Available, Predictably Expensive

The large heatsinks are mainly for people that don't have heatsinks that ship with motherboards. Everyone is trying to make coolers for early adapters and that mainly covers people that need to use the performance available for long periods of time without thermal throttling. The motherboard...

News DirectStorage Testing Shows PCIe 3 Drives Are Basically as Fast as PCIe 5

The game doesn't use DirectStorage to it's fullest. It's not streaming the data like you will see on future titles and it doesn't use the GPU for decompression. This us like a bare minimum implementation of DirectStorage.

News DirectStorage Testing Shows PCIe 3 Drives Are Basically as Fast as PCIe 5

The built in benchmark doesn't take into account longterm gameplay where the same files are read thousands of time per hour. Not only that, the game doesn't use GDeflate.
