Ok here's what I've tried since updating; Check disk, sfc scan now, rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin and various antiviruses to be safe, nothing seems to have helped.

My recycle bin won't empty and the icon has changed into the standard paper icon (like this https://cdn3.iconfinder.com/data/icons/musthave/256/New.png ) any idea how to fix this? I also had a shortcut to my computer on the desktop and the same thing has happened to that icon.
