    Ground Loop Isolator question

Hi, I embarked on a quest to dub all of my old cassette tapes to mp3's. About 5% into it I started to notice a loud buzzing sound, which is typically a signal of a ground loop problem. I bought an isolator and installed it in line. The problem is that the input sound level is decreased about...

How to get games, etc to recognize switchable graphics?

Thank you very much for the response to my old thread. Like some others in that thread I am very concerned about using a modded bios and will have to read the entire thread or at least the potions that concern this subject. At least I would probably wait for my warranty to expire before I did...

    Problem with Radeon HD 6650M

That thread looks like just the thing I need. Thanks so much for linking that. But I am so afraid to flash the bios. If it doesn't work for some reason doesn't it mess up the machine and perhaps make it non-functional?

    Problem with Radeon HD 6650M

Hi, I am having trouble with the Radeon HD6650M (2 Gb ram) graphics for my Acer Aspire 7750G laptop. This laptop has switchable graphics. I thought it sounded like a good idea when I bought it but am having second thoughts. The other laptop specs are I5 processor, 8 Gb ram and Windows 7 home...

How to get games, etc to recognize switchable graphics?

I have the same machine, the Acer 7750G-6662. You can change the switchable graphics to use the video card for certain applications by right clicking on the desktop and then going to configure switchable graphics. But I need to find out how to turn off switchable graphics completely and use...

How to get games, etc to recognize switchable graphics?

How do you switch graphics manually? This is W7. I have found how to assign "best performance" or "power saver" performance. I assigned the Blizzard scanner (for opting in to the Diablo 3 beta) but it still did not see the Radeon 6650M graphics card and instead scanned the Intel graphics...

    Acer laptops function keys

Here is a document off the Acer site that is the service manual for your machine. Function keys are listed in page 18 of the PDF. http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/Manuals/acer/2010/ServiceGuides/SG_Aspire_5742_5742G_5742Z_5742ZG_20100806.pdf Thanks!

PSU may not have enough power

I am hoping 500W is enough. I bought the model in the link above and added an upgrade to 500w. I can't imagine it isn't enough though since the system is old and it came with 300W anyway. Thanks for your help and thoughts!

PSU may not have enough power

The new video card is a Radeon HD 3650. The box says 300W or greater. But it obviously needs more. Or the PSU was getting old anyway and couldn't supply it due to 3 hard drives and 2 optical drives.

PSU may not have enough power

Just as a matter of opinion, what do you think of the vendor in my opening post? It's the only psu I can find for a Sony Vaio. I am afraid that Sony may use proprietary voltages so buying off the shelf makes me weary. I was once in an online chat with a Sony support rep and asked him if they...

PSU may not have enough power

I will post the new video card a bit later. Got to get home from work. It is AGP though. The box said a 300W PSU was what was needed but I think it may have been misprinted. Are you saying not to use the new card with the underpowered psu?

PSU may not have enough power

Hi, I have an old Sony Vaio PCV RS431x computer that had a 300w psu in it. A couple years ago, I thought the PSU was going bad and bought a new one here: http://www.atxpowersupplies.com/400-watt-Sony-MJPC-300A2-power-supply-LPM2-20-P4-M.php I think the one I bought might be 300W or 350W...

How to get games, etc to recognize switchable graphics?

Hi all, I hope I placed this in the correct section. If not, please move it. I just bought a laptop with an I5 processor and a Radeon 6650m video card and on board Intel HD graphics with switchable graphics capability. This seems have advantages and disadvantages. One of the disadvantages...
