Convert IDE drive to AHCI... Lose data?

sminlal Thanks for the feedback. The disk in question needs to be hot-swappable for use as a removable archive disk (like a big floppy disk). Two other disks (WD Black 2TB) will be a Raid 0 array. Since this is my first foray into the world of AHCI and Raid, I'm using the Marvell and Intel...

Convert IDE drive to AHCI... Lose data?

Hi. I've got a SATA disk on my current workstation, on which I've backed up a lot data. When I set up the disks on my new system, all disks will be set up as Raid or AHCI. This disk will NOT be a system disk or part of a Raid array. If a disk was used in IDE mode and is moved to a new...

    Physical to Logical Disk Mapping?

Nitrogen, All that does is bring up a list of the logical properties. When you select the "Hardware" tab, all it does is to list ALL of the disk drives and NOT the drive that you selected. How does this provide a logical to physical mapping? Dan.

    Physical to Logical Disk Mapping?

Hi. This may sound like a strange question - how do you identify which disk is which in your system? I you have only one or two disks, this is obviously pretty trivial. I'm in the process of reconfiguring my systems (new MOBO and disks in one system) and moving current MOBO and some disks...
