Question How can I safely test if I will be shocked when I touch my computer?

Just tested it out. No shock! However, my guitar was in the floor when I made contact with both it and my computer. This wouldn't affect it, would it? In case it matters, my floor is vinyl, and one end of the guitar was also on a rug.

Question How can I safely test if I will be shocked when I touch my computer?

I put the ground probe on the computer, and the other on the pickups while my amp and everything was on. I tested each setting for both DC and AC, and nothing showed up on my multimeter. I even did the same with the ground probe on my guitar pickup and the other on my PC, just to be sure. Once...

Question How can I safely test if I will be shocked when I touch my computer?

The amp has three prongs. Yeah, I meant that I moved to a different room, and I believe that they're on the same circuit. I've got a multimeter, but I'm not sure which setting to use. I'm assuming it's either DCV or ACV. I'm also unsure as to which prong I should put where. Would one just go...

Question How can I safely test if I will be shocked when I touch my computer?

The backstory as to why I'm worried about this and how happened in the first place take a pretty large amount of explaining, so I'd rather not get into it, but, whenever my guitar amp is on and I'm making contact the strings on my guitar and I touch the back of my computer, I would get a shock...

Question Second monitor not filling up the entire screen

I recently got a second monitor. It works fine, but the only problem is that I can't get it the display to fill the entire screen! The left side of the screen is cut off, and the right side of the screen has a black bar where nothing is, and my mouse cannot go over it, as if the display is...

[SOLVED] Why was I getting shocked when coming into contact with my computer?

Whoops! Sorry about the super late response. The amp is plugged into a surge protector, which is plugged into the outlet with a different cover, which is newer than the other outlets in the room. Is there any way that I can test whether or not my surge protector is still working as it should...

[SOLVED] Which of my graphics cards is better?

Sweet, my assumptions were correct. Any idea on how I could make it so it's my default graphics card if that needs to be done?

[SOLVED] Which of my graphics cards is better?

Recently, my computer bit the dust and was replaced with a lower-end computer. The graphics card from my old computer, an AMD Radeon R9 360, was taken off of it and put onto this new one, which has an Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630. I'm assuming that the AMD graphics card is better, but I just want...

[SOLVED] Why was I getting shocked when coming into contact with my computer?

In the first half of the paragraph, you're saying that, if the situation is that, the problem is because the amplifier is wired incorrectly, correct? Also, in the latter half of the paragraph, I'm understanding that that could only happen with plugs with only two prongs, correct? I know that...

By "earth fault to the computer ", you mean that the problem was with the computer and not the outlet it was plugged in to, correct?

[SOLVED] Why was I getting shocked when coming into contact with my computer?

I've seen a few other threads asking a similar question, but in those threads, it seemed that the shock was happening whenever someone came into contact with their computer. For me, I was only shocked when I was using my guitar, which was plugged into an amp that was on. I never have been...
