Update: I ramped up my fans to 3k rpm which allowed me to play games on max setting without any artifacts or crashes. Since gpu showed decent temps even on regular speeds I came to the conclusion that either vram or vrm are overheating. Most likely the former. Any thoughts on this?

That is what the rating is and what the speed test shows. I don't really mind it as long as it doesn't drop during the match which happens only once after that it's fine. It's having to force it back to a gigabit that ticks me off.
