It has occurred to me that's the case. The pc has started beeping 4 or 5 times on start up now but otherwise seems fine. I tried to download the gigabyte app centre to update the bios etc (using the standard hard drive) but the install keep failing. Starting to get abbot worried!

Might it be an idea to just install on hdd and then update the bios to see if that helps?

And yes the standard hard drive sits on top of the ssd connection

I believe it's on sata 0 but not 100% sure I'm reading this right. The ssd seems to be on the bottom connection closest to the side of the cpu

It's a Intenso ssd 240gb Drive

It's a z270-gaming k3. Also has LGA 1151 on the box. Does that help? Sorry I am a complete beginner here. I appreciate your help.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry it's a z270. I have the drives set up as SATA drives looking at it. The bios version is f3 I believe. Removing the data cable for the had made no difference. I just could only see the cd rom and a disabled device (the ssd I assume.
