    Advice on a Macbook

Hello everyone, I’m looking at getting a MacBook. Controversial, I know, but I’ve decided on Mac over windows. Primary use case will be for uni, essays / research etc. I use iPad Pro for note taking (which is fantastic). I also want the notebook to be capable of doing content creation- Adobe...

If you went with the 8400, a good Z370 board and some fast ram you'd have a very capable system. The 8400 is such good value that you can spend a bit more on the motherboard and still get a good deal. And as you said you do have the option of upgrading to the unlocked i5 or i7 in the future. As...

    High CPU temperature

The i7-7700 is rated up to 100 c so 82 is within the limits. A better CPU cooler like the hyper 212 evo would bring the temps down.

core i7 8700k vs ryzen 7 1800x which is better for matlab and solid works?

I would lean towards the Intel. You'd loose two cores (but there's still 6 which is plenty) but you'll get a much higher clock speed from the Intel as well as a better IPC. I'd also trust Intel a little more for reliability and compatibility with other components from past experience Just my...

Dual Xeon Build - Questions and looking for advice/suggestions

Have you considered the i9-7980XE? It's about the price of both Xeons and is only 2 less cores...but it can reach 4.2GHz stock and can be overclocked (probably not by much though with all them cores!) And its on a more consumer platform which i'd see as a positive Just my two cents! Cheers
