    I've dropped the voltage down to 1.1 and the core speed down to 3.8ghz through Ryzen master and now the temps don't go over 85c while gaming even though the idle temp is still 60c. I can't help but feel like something is wrong though. surely there's no way the only way the CPU will function...

    No, the AIO is positioned on the top of the case with fans inside pulling through the radiator. I hope that's the correct installation.
