    Ejected from Mac forum

Lol, I'm on a mac and everyone knows that there aren't that many games for mac. After all, which mac could play crysis well? The Mac pro? Yeah right, FB-DIMMS... ha.

    yorksfield and wolfdale 45nm

I think the FSB on these is going to be like 1333 or 1600

Memory & Performance *** in Vista

Ok, just wondering but what is your FSB? Because you might be limited by your FSB despite having extra RAM.

Noobie Question about HDD and RAIDS

I agree with AUsch30 @ russki Dude, the guy just asked a simple question. Don't go saying something stupid like that, these forums are here for people including him. He wanted help, and guess what, he got it. It wasn't a big deal.

Noobie Question about HDD and RAIDS

Yes, I'm curious as to how we're wrong?

Noobie Question about HDD and RAIDS

You just plug both of them into any available slots. If I were you I'd put them in the most logical connectors like 0 and1 or 1 and 2 depending on how your mobo labels them.

    New Workstation Build... NEED HELP!

Hm... I have a workstation, it's not fulfilling the same purpose that yours is but it's still a powerhouse. For the CPUs I'm not sure if you can get the X5365s yet, but they're quite powerful. If you have the ability to acquire them then do so, you'll not regret it. As for the RAM, I'd just...

New (non-gaming) system- CPU and MB?

I'm gonna agree with the above poster, but my question is this: Do you want PCI-X or not? Most mobos have PCI and PCIe, but will PCI-X benefit you?

    4x on the PCI-E 16x port?!?!

For that GPU, you're not losing any performance unless the drivers on that mobo aren't as efficient. If I remember correctly a card like the X1950XT can't even use the bandwidth of a PCIe X4 let alone X16.

High Def Editing System (advice please)

Ok, well I'm not well-versed in this kind particular field of work, but I do know that getting the 51xx series xeons will get you a huge performane increase over the 50xx series. Hell, you could go dual dual-core and still get pretty decent performance. The only problem is the FB-DIMMs. Other...

    scsi+raid

Hmm... for that mobo you don't have a SCSI controller from what I know. If you're planning on those SCSI's you'll need to get a seperate controller. Now I don't know if you're planning on PCI or PCIe for the controller but you'll definitely need it.

    How does this system sound???

What do you plan on doing this system?

    FSX - Computer Specs

Well, I think the first thing you have to look at is whether or not the game can work with multiple processing cores. If it can than you can look into dual and quad-core CPUs. And for now I'd say you could get away with an 8800GTS and have some pretty decent fps. On the RAM, I'd say that 4GB...

Why can't amd build something like the dual socket x-38?

Hmm... I didn't even hear about this... I wish they would do something like this for the Xeons... Well.. guess I'll have to keep watching the news for this kind of stuff.
