Relatively Low scores and fps with 1080 ti

Hi, my specs: core i5 4690 at 3.5 (boost 3.9) gygabyte h97 16 Gb ram msi aero 1080 ti factory OC (1520 MHz) Acer monitor p243w at 1200p I know the CPU -GPU seems mismatched. The reason is I got the card as a present, quite unexpectedly. i just installed the GPU and did some testing and...

Gtx 1080ti obsolescence at 4K, and 4K textures

Hi, Here is my current hardware: core i5 4690 (boost 3.9ghz), gtx 1080ti, 16GB ram, acer 24' screen at 1200p. I play mostly AAA games, RPGs, actions games ( fallout, witcher, deus ex, super excited for anthem!) barely any shooters although BF1 gave me a few hours of fun. I like to take my time...

    i5 4690+GTX 1080ti+4k Gsync bottleneck?

But isn't that video for 1080p, where CPU does make a difference? As you get into higher resolution the GPU becomes more important than the CPU.

    i5 4690+GTX 1080ti+4k Gsync bottleneck?

Thanks for the well-written and easy to understand answer. Concerning the screen, I don't have any experience with either resolution or frequency in gaming, as I now own a 1200p, 60hz. however, I saw a YouTube 4K video of andromeda on a 4k Tv and was blown away. I plan on going to a large PC...

    i5 4690+GTX 1080ti+4k Gsync bottleneck?

oh, Hi! We talked yesterday on that display forum about the 4K monitors. Still not sure about the display (will go to the big store next months). Just enjoying the anticipation, and asking questions in case I decide to go 4K. As for my budget for the PC, it is already ordered and will arrive...

    i5 4690+GTX 1080ti+4k Gsync bottleneck?

Thanks. After I posted this thread, I actually found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daiF6lYguN4 It describes performance on two cpus (i7 4790k and i5 750), with the same GPU. And it seems the i5 is slightly faster in most games at 4K. NOt sure what to make of it...

    i5 4690+GTX 1080ti+4k Gsync bottleneck?

Hi, I am giving a refresh to PC, taking parts from a different one. I am planning on adding up a GTX 1080ti to my existing core i5 4690 (16GB ram) and hope to play at 4K at 60Hz (with some settings on medium) on a monitor with gsync (acer xb281hk probably, since it is the only one in my...

Thanks, I will do just that.

    going from 1200p 24' to 1440p 27' or 4K 28': visible difference?

A few months ago, I saw a 4K video of andromeda on a 4K tv, and it just blew my mind. But the TV was at least 40'. You make a great point about the longevity of a system. I think this summer, I will go to the next big city and visit a computer store. It is a 5 hour drive, but should be worth...

trying to justify an expensive, high end pc

    ■ Hi, I am trying to convince myself, I need a really powerful pc to start studying iOS programming (multimedia language learning though video games) I am aiming at a i7 7700 with gtx 1080ti, for around 1700$. What justifications would work? Thank you

    going from 1200p 24' to 1440p 27' or 4K 28': visible difference?

I tend to play mostly single player games, and rpgs, like the witcher 3, fallout 4. So I am not really sure if the extra refresh rate would make a big difference, but I guess we all are differently sensitive to speed and resolution. For the gsync, I was thinking of hitting mostly in the upper...

    going from 1200p 24' to 1440p 27' or 4K 28': visible difference?

The MG279Q is 650$ here. Also, I was hoping to get a gsync so that in a few years, even if the card is not enough to push 4K at high details, I would feel less stutter than without gsync. But then again, it all depends on how much a difference there is between 1200>1440 (with 144hz) and 1200>2160

    going from 1200p 24' to 1440p 27' or 4K 28': visible difference?

Actually, the whole PC is a set. I can't get into details, but it was easier for me to get it that way. I am using PC koubou, a Japanese retailer, with good online discounts and good after care service. May I ask what monitor you are using?
