    Several BSOD's while gaming

Well according to the info from your bsod, its definitely an error related to the driver in some way. Formatting wouldn't fix any hardware issues though. Could be the memory (ntoskrnl.exe is an important file for the OS dealing with memory and cache) I would check the RAM first with MEMTEST...

    Several BSOD's while gaming

Well the bug code can be explained here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff558949(v=vs.85).aspx Looks like an issue with your Graphics driver. Your best bet is to remove the drivers completely, and then install the newest version. If you think you tried reinstalling...

Getting a new case - this one any good?

Those double front intake fans will be nice and you can throw another intake on the side there too which would be great for you gpu and the airflow in your tower in general. Its fit for a nice water cooling system should your cpu require it. Also you've got this strange (however nice, im not...

Will I need a case fan with this build?

It should come standard with a front intake, and a rear exhaust fan... Now you don't necessarily "need" to get another case fan, but if it were me, I'd personally be prepared to swap out the 2 stock fans it comes with for something better; and maybe a side intake fan if you can fit the budget...

    Would a fx 6300 bottle neck a radeon r9 280?

No, honestly you could probably run it with the 280X without it bottle necking...The 280 will be fine. The only time it may pose an issue will be with games, in which they are poorly optimized and put a lot of the load on your cpu. (eg: Battlefield 4)

    CPU running hot?

The reason for the throttle [downClock] is your temperature. `70 C degrees is the threshold for AMD cpus. Check: - you have good airflow throughout your tower. - fans are working properly - check socket temps A good way to trace your air flow is with dry ice, or a bit of cigarette smoke or...

Will more than 60 fps look bad on a 60hz monitor?

V-sync will prevent your fps from going above 60. Which will prevent tearing. Simply keeps your fps and monitor refresh rate in sync. Tearing is the result of their difference. Just check the box in your game settings under video settings to turn on v-sync and you should be fine.

Looking for a CPU for a new workstation

If your intending on going with the intel cpu, then the z75 pro 3 board is the one with the right chipset [you'll have to go with and AMD cpu if want the 970 eXtreme3 board...i assume thats why you have both options there] For lots of multitasking [as i mentioned earlier] hyper threading is...

Looking for a CPU for a new workstation

16Gb of RAM should be plenty. Usually for gaming I would suggest and AMD fx series because they are so over clock friendly. But for what it sounds like your using it for, I'd suggest one of the 4th generation Intel CPUs with hyper threading (i3, i7, etc...). Multi-tasking will be a breeze and...

What should my CPU/GPU usage be during games?

I cant imagine that 780ti struggling too much, definitely handle any game without breaking a sweat. But your i5 is gonna be working noticably harder, even with that higher clock speed. That being said your CPU will probably be pushing 70-100% as the previous poster stated. But I doubt you GPU...
