i have a lenovo yoga 2 pro laptop which im trying to connect to my monitor(ASUS VG248QE) . however, when i display it my comp immediately loses my home network and cant find it. any ideas?

how do i know if i can hook up my monitor to my computer. its a dell e5400 and an asus vg248qe. right now they are connected (not working) by vga cord and vga to hdmi converter. i know there has to be a way im just to noobie to do it

i have a asus vg248qe monitor which i am trying to get to display whats on my laptop screen. i have them connected by a vga cord (from the laptop) to a vga to hdmi converter which plugs into the hdmi port of the monitor. but its not working. pls help!
