... Video card is overheating, probably due to dust. Clean out its fan, clean the CPU fan, clean case fans, make sure air flow is proper (that your cables didn't come undone and get in the way of everything). Seriously, it's obvious. Antivirus, insufficient RAM, etc. won't work one week...

The download is using all of your bandwidth, which is a good thing (more or less). It's not killing your internet, it's using all of it. As for a fix, I don't see anything in the Steam options. I'd contact Valve customer support, or download when you don't need your internet like most people do.

Hmmmmm. While having a PSU much larger than you need is bad, it's because PSUs lose efficiency when they're under-utilized (ie if your system will draw a max of 300w, and on average will use 100w, a 1,000w PSU isn't only overkill, it's going to draw more power from the wall to power the system...

And the reason it sets everything to low is probably because it doesn't have your graphics card in its list of known cards (your card was released MUCH after the latest patch for COD2, how can it know what it really is?) Unless of course, you mean, CoD MW2, but in that case you should be clear.

In my years of PC work, I've never seen a CPU fail, but I have seen failures out of PSUs, RAM, and motherboards. I think CPU failure is the last worry I have on my PC.
