I consulted an engineer and it turns out that an HDMI cable is the best option that works so he put that in instead. Working like a charm now, although i really wanted the DP cable to work since that's sort of a newer invention, without having to rely on HDMI but that's just me. Hope this helps. :)

You are a star! It seems to be a whole lot easier now. Yes, i think Option 2 seems to be the best for me. I've already used the splitter for both my noctua fans. I just need to switch them from SysFan to CPU1(alongside the splitter) for control and vice versa for the case fans. Thanks again John! :)

still getting error even after switching option to 2nd (mini dp) via touch. I connected the dp cable to GTX 970 and the mini dp to the monitor(u2414h). Please advise.

I was having the same problem. You only need 1 VGA cable - put the 6+2 pin on the graphic card (gtx 970 has 8 slots so use the rest 2 slots as well from the +2,get it?) and the other 8 pin on the power supply.

Hey thanks john..as i mentioned in my original comment my case is Phanteks Enthoo Pro, so as you can imagine i'm confused so as to which fan wire to put under CPU1 on the motherboard - Enthoo default fans or Noctua's? Also, i'm assuming the secondary fan - whichever it may be..would go under...

It seems Noctua really DID make a mistake with the screws(as per reply i received from them) but i somehow managed to work my way around (after LOADS od research) using a similiar set of screws for the time being.. *whew* Now that the cooler's set, could you advise me where to put the wire that...

Thanks for replying KingDingDong. I have gone through the installation videos on the website and strangely enough didn't get any for NH-D14. There is a manual though but that doesn't solve the problem as i have that too. Plus the screws that i received in the box(for the pre-installed backplate)...
