Turn up your storage with this 8TB WD Black SN850X SSD at an all-time low price

Yup, that's exactly what happens. The SSD market is just that friendly with each other. Good thing none of them want more of the market! With those margins it'd be easy to make a move.

Turn up your storage with this 8TB WD Black SN850X SSD at an all-time low price

...I'm sorry but you know that's not how this works, right? They can't just slap a couple extra chips on the PCB and rake in the extra profit.

News Intel's 18A and TSMC's N2 process nodes compared: Intel is faster, but TSMC is denser

I mean, lunar lake looks pretty damn good. If you don't mind the price.

News AMD denies 9070 XT leaked prices — '$899 USD starting price point was never part of the plan

I think they still want to wait for Nvidia's embargo dates.

News RTX 5090 is allegedly 39% faster than RTX 4090 in 3DMark benchmarks — beats RX 7900 XTX by 93%

Plus more and MUCH faster tensor cores. If you're on the AI train it's a hell of a card. If not, second hand 4090s will be the way to go.

News Jensen says DLSS 4 "predicts the future" to increase framerates without introducing latency

In fairness, that's just because your eye can recognize 24fps and identifies media at different frame rates as feeling "wrong"/"off". Younger viewers don't have that same reaction; 60fps doesn't inherently "feel" less real, the the GG and the Boomers just weren't used to it and drew the wrong...

News RTX 5090 beats RTX 4090 by 36% in the Blender benchmark — RTX 5090D is 40% faster than RTX 4090D

That's like normalizing horsepower on cars to fuel economy. No, a 400hp car @ 17mpg is not about the same as a 200hp car at 34mpg. Those cars are obviously for different people, and one of them obviously costs (and should cost) more.

News Jensen says DLSS 4 "predicts the future" to increase framerates without introducing latency

It's like you're discovering for the first time that it is, and has always been, trickery all the way down. One of our old tricks isn't scaling well anymore and we are using new tricks. But if you think that traditional rasterization isn't itself a pyramid of trickery, you should educate...

News AMD says Intel's 'horrible product' is causing Ryzen 9 9800X3D shortages

You have accidentally assumed that people make rational purchase decisions. When people have a couple thousand to spend on a top-end PC, it's more fun to get the fast chip, not the one with the best CPU/GPU balance. You see that trend across all recreational & semi-recreational industries --...

News Intel celebrates the arrival of MRDIMMs — a plug and play solution for ultrafast memory that offers double the memory bandwidth of standard DRAM

Anyone know this compares to DDR5 7200mhz (PC5-57600) modules in terms of performance & latency? Ignoring server features (ECC etc.), is (the JEDEC version of) this technology a path forward for faster off-package memory (on consumer platforms)? Also, is the benefit here coming from alternating...

News GPU cooling supplier claims Nvidia RTX 50-series GPUs will "seize the whole market starting in December" — Auras says key components like cold pl...

Agreed. Or, more specifically, profit per wafer is maximized by allocating most wafers to AI server chips. They are probably supply constrained for gaming chips and thus have no reason to reduce pricing. I don't know about that. I think it's very possible the AMD will create a 4090-class chip...

News Last-minute PS5 Pro leaks indicate system will pack 16.7 TFLOPS GPU with 16GB dedicated GDDR6 VRAM — plus 2GB DDR5 system RAM

That’s nothing. According to this article, the CPU literally has no access to any RAM except for OS functions. I get the feeling that the author doesn’t really know how these things work…

News High-end external GPUs still suffer a performance hit — OCuLink tests show up to a 23% drop with an RTX 4090

Though I doubt anything outside the 4090 and to a lesser extent the 4080/3090 would have a noticeable difference.

News Micro Center low-balls RTX 4090 owner — Store's GPU trade-in program offers just $700 for Nvidia's flagship GPU

This article is either rage bait or just naive. Trade-in programs are in no way designed to be competitive. They are intended to be an additional source of margin and have very high gross-margin requirements to compensate for being risky and high-touch. Any time a trade-in program IS...
