Thanks for your reply ssddx, I've just thought about something and it may cause a problem for me. I'm sure my receiver is HDMI1.4 which only allows for 4K up to 24fps? i know my tv has HDMI 2.0 capable of 4K at 60fps. Going from my GPU > Reciever > TV will this limit me to 4K at 24 fps?

Hi, Okay thanks for letting me know, I heard about that earlier apparently it can be a HDMI handshake issue. Just thought I'd let you know to save time uninstalling and reinstalling drivers :P Are you using a 4K TV as well?

HDMI does pass 5.1 though and there is no input for all of the 3.5mm jacks on the back to pass audio from my pc to the receiver. that connection is only for pc speakers.

is it not recommended to buy a set and then add in another set later of the same make and model? having a hard time understanding why the same make and model ram with matching timings and latency would not work together

are you saying if i get another 8gb hyperx fury 1866 set which is what i already have there is a chance of them not working together? i thought this was only a problem with ddr4 on some motherboards?

With that motherboard you will have no problems with overclocking a k series i5 or i7 in the future, it might be better to look for a z97 board if you can find one cheap enough since then you will be able to get a broadwell cpu when you upgrade since they should be out by the time you want to...
