haven't had much time to update thread. I attempted to repair the motherboard and solder a new FET but in the process i nudged several components when I sneezed and at that point took the hint and binned the whole project lol. Maybe i'll have more luck next time.

I have had a friend check the main board for faults at a component level and we discovered that an FET was causing the problem. New FET has been ordered and I will report back if we manage to bring the board back to life. Thanks for the advice so far folks.
