So I already own a GTX 970, I have a motherboard that can support SLI, and I have an i7-4790k processor. I plan on buying a 4k monitor and was wondering if it would be smarter to upgrade to a better card or just do SLI. Which option gives better performance and is economically smart?

GPU started overheating recently and I was just wondering if there's a way to fix this. My comp still works fine but when I game it looks like crap, my card is a GTX 970.
