Anyone have experience with heat pipes?

amdy: Here is a link of a gguy that did some of his own heat pipe work and fabrication. If I recall the results he got were not all that impressive. I'm not sure if this is waht you are looking for, but it might give you a start. Here are at least 3 articles here, so look around the web site...

    Swiftech killer

I wonder how difficult it would be to modify the heatsink to fit onto the motherboard instead of on the clips. For the cost differerence of the Swiftech MC 462 it might be worth it. Seems to me you could solder two bits of copper or plates (or whatever) to each side of the copper heat sink...

    No Core in heatsink review

I was sorry not to see the Thermaltake Volcano II. I know a bunch of guys have made posts on it, but it would have been nice to see how it stacked up against the other coolers Tom tested. You don't know what it is, but it's there. Like a splinter in your mind.

    Via still second class.

Hobbit: Ya, I had problems with my printer too. I fixed it also with some change in the Bios. THe printer port can be set to various settings. I just set it to the simplest, lowest tech one on the list and it worked with no problems. THe problem was it took me about 6 hours to figure out...

    Via still second class.

Hobbit: If you want to check out the USB MAN web site, here is the link. It helped me figure out some of my USB problems on the KT7A Raid Board. Good luck... (you'll need it!) (Remember, got mine to work, so you should as well) Here is the link http://www.usbman.com/Guides/VIA Tips and...

    Via still second class.

I had one heck of a problem getting my KT7A Raid board working when it comes to chipset problems. First is was IDE problems trying to hook up a zip drive. That took me about a week to figure out. Then I had problems with a sound card because the bus wasn't working, interrupt problems and...

    Awesome Water-Cooler Finished!

ptcg: Something else you may want to consider is to use a peltier. Because you have the metal forming skills and tools, (and desire) this may be able to let you really cool things down. Using a peltier will allow you to cool your system down below room temp and this moves you well beyond...

Is air colder once it has been blown by a fan?

Pete: Good point about the air pressure, forgot about that. That is the way jumbo airliners air condition the cabins, by using a small engine to compress air, then cool it, the allow it to expand again. The expansion causes the cooling effect. You don't know what it is, but...

Is air colder once it has been blown by a fan?

To add to big guy (please don't read this if you don't like physics, cuz I am about to give a physics lesson!) the fan is doing "work" on the air. About 200 years ago a guy whos name (i think) was Lord Bard discovered that work and heat (temperature) are directly related. When you do work on...
