So you say x8+x8 or x16+x4, thanks for confirming what I thought :) I hoped that cards being 3.0 and 2.0 themselves will allow them to run x16+x8, but oh well.

The question wasn't about if they can or not - yes they can, as long as there are enough slots and lanes. The question is more about 970 working on x16 and best slot for 560ti (option #3 is only for case where 970 can't run x16 with second PCIe extension on this mobo).
