My first computer was an original Gateway with Windows 98. It had a MASSIVE 10gb hard drive, 64mb of RAM, and a Pentium III. We upgraded it to XP, which was a mistake, but it got me really good at optimizing the gui (I could cook a HotPocket in the time it took to load the desktop).

It sounds like it's designed to hit that. You can adjust the fan curve in MSI Afterburner/Wattman if you need to.

Aside from a compatible modem, router, and cat5e/6 cable, you shouldn't need anything else other than ensuring your motherboard is doing the full 10/100/1000.

For intel cpus, you don't want them going higher than 75-80C. I think 1.4v is the max safe vcore, though that could be conservative. Either way, you want both of those to be as low as you can get away with.

If it's going to be used for a console, then a proper gaming monitor(144hz) would be worthless. If it will be used by your computer as well, then definitely the gaming monitor. Make sure to get a monitor with 144hz as a minimum.

Do not skimp on the power supply. If you're dropping a grand on it, get at least a Gold rating. EVGA Supernova G3 are a fantastic series.

If it hasn't been 14 days, you can return that motherboard to the vendor for a refund, at least you can with Newegg. Otherwise you'll have to talk to the manufacturer.
