Depends. Are you having FrameRate drops in games or want to play at a higher detail setting? If so, go for the upgrade. But if the games you are playing are working fine, look into a Switch.

If you spilled milk on the Dock, take the AC adapter out of the Dock and charge it directly from that. If you spilled it on the Switch, you may have to get it Fixed by Nintendo.

Yes it should. I would personally suggest getting a Cheaper option that still says it will work with the Switch on Amazon. All USB LAN adapters should work on the Wii U, but check if it says "Works On Nintendo Switch" for a USB LAN adapter for the switch.

The Nintendo Switch's Networking isn't great, as i have connection issues the same in my own home. Possibly the Hospital WiFi has too many people using it and the Switch isn't getting enough data. If your Hospital WiFi has a 5 Gigahertz band, try to use that instead.

Have you tried on another TV, or even on other Ports on the TV? If the problem still happens, try to clean out the port on the Wii. If that still doesn't work, I would suggest seeing if Nintendo or a 3rd party solution could see if it may be an issue on the inside on the console.

Are you playing the same games on both Origin and Steam? If so, have you checked that both games have the same settings? Your games on origin may be set to a lower Details setting allowing higher framerate.
