[SOLVED] Secure Erase M.2 SSD on Lenovo IdeaPad L340-17IRH Gaming

Yes, it's horribly hard to find free alternatives that actually work, so I think I will purchase the Parted Magic software to do the trick. I am disappointed the UEFI does not support Secure Erase for this model, as may other Lenovo models have the option :(

[SOLVED] Secure Erase M.2 SSD on Lenovo IdeaPad L340-17IRH Gaming

@SkyNetRising The SSD is a SAMSUNG MZVLB512HBJQ-000L2, but Samsung's support pages haven't been any help. I tried their "Magician" tool, but that one says the drive is not supported. Hence I was looking for the option in the BIOS / UEFI, also with no luck.

[SOLVED] Secure Erase M.2 SSD on Lenovo IdeaPad L340-17IRH Gaming

I want to sell the mentioned laptop, but before I do I would wipe its original SSD drive clean and reinstall Windows on it. I found that some Lenovo (including IdeaPad) laptops have a Secure Erase option in the UEFI settings, but this specific model does not seem to contain that option. At...

    HP 8560W and CPU i7-3740QM

I have an older HP EliteBook 8560W which currently holds a i7-2670QM CPU (Sandy Bridge). I am looking into upgrading the CPU with a cheap i7-3740QM CPU (Ivy Bridge). Can I safely swap those CPUs, is the 3740QM compatible with the motherboard? At least the socket is a match, but are there...

Having a hard time selecting a PSU...

Just to close the thread: I went with the SST-ST60F-ES Silverstone 600W, Strider Essential, ATX 2.3, 80 Plus. Seems to work like a charm and leaves me some room to update my hardware further, if wanted :)

    Asus PCE-N53 on H87-PRO Motherboard

Problem was solved after all by selecting a different PCI-e slot. Can't quite figure out what exactly did the trick, but I think having the drivers pre-installed and then plugging the card to a different slot seems to be the right solution. Case closed :)

    Asus PCE-N53 on H87-PRO Motherboard

No luck with the BIOS update / reset either... Some more information: the network adapter apparently does show up in Device Manager as "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller". I've tried to change the drivers with the manual method "Have Disk", but none seem to work. I keep on getting the error...

    Asus PCE-N53 on H87-PRO Motherboard

There is an updated BIOS version available since 12/03. I'll try your suggestions and report back! Thx!

    Asus PCE-N53 on H87-PRO Motherboard

True, it does have 2 slots. I overlooked it because the other one is hidden behind the graphics card, which takes 2 slot spaces. I'd rather not move that one though :) I tried with another PCI slot, but Windows 8 throws exception errors during boot-up :(

It's plugged in the small slot (PCI-e x1), there's only one of those...

    Asus PCE-N53 on H87-PRO Motherboard

Hi! I just installed a new wireless network card (Asus PCE-N53) to my PC with H87-PRO motherboard. The PC fails to recognize it, and none of the lights on the hardware are indicating any activity. Installed the latest drivers, but since the hardware is not recognized at all, it didn't help...

Having a hard time selecting a PSU...

Or then this also popped up, although no overkill I hope? Silverstone 600W, Strider Essential, ATX 2.3, 80 Plus
