I had the same problem with Borderlands 2 using the Xbox One controller. I may have found a solution. This morning, I tried switching from USB 3 to USB 2, and the game went past the 2K logo. My computer didn't freeze. The game ran fine with the controller. Mirror's Edge also suffered from this...
