Is it just Rome 2? Have you tried with any other game? If it's just doing it in Rome 2, it likely has something to do with the game itself, or will likely need a fresh installation.

If your PC can infact maintain 144 FPS average, then congrats. That aside, it depends on the games you play as well. If you play a LOT of FPS games, especially if you play competitively, you'll benefit from the 144 Hz monitor. Otherwise, the 60 Hz should do fine.
