PCIe 5.0 Coming In 2019; PCI-SIG Fast Tracks Final Spec

@ chriz78 Quote, "Expect RJ-45 400GigE to be right around the corner!" Nope, not around any corner I can yet see, and I'm still deploying 100G channels like crazy. But as I gear up for upcoming 400G deployments, you should know you'll not be seeing that on an RJ45 any time soon, if ever...

Acer XR382CQK Curved FreeSync Monitor Review

Looks lovely. I wouldn't like to drive that many pixels though - hence my XK34 @ 100Hz.

Valve Makes Changes To Steam Gifting System

Just THIS SECOND: Due to regional price differences, the gift you are trying to send cannot be sent to the recipient's region. Phucking ell.

Valve Makes Changes To Steam Gifting System

@ JEFF FX Allow me to say I absolutely agree with you. I've a few broke-ass friends too. Some people are indifferent when you buy them a game, surprisingly. But then some people are idiots too.

Cooler Master MasterWatt Maker 1200 MIJ PSU Review

@ InvalidError My five-thousand-pound SACD player *clearly* sounded better with custom order solid silver interconnects & speaker cables. Everything was 'brighter', and yet without being harsh, nor blinding at the same time. - Not everyone has an ear for hi-fi. So don't knock what you...

EK Water Blocks Announces EVGA FTW2 Full-Cover Blocks

@ SHERWOODY I feel what you are saying. But from what I've seen, water-cooling our GPUs can make sense. But I cannot stomach 100GBP for a cooling block, on an already expenseive card (that looks great too) also. And I'm told I need a second part for the back of the PCB also. Another 30 GBP...

Cisco Finds Critical Vulnerability In WikiLeaks Docs

@ TheViper And SSH VERSION 2 at that. I was battling Chinese hackers I couldn't keep out of my infrastructure for weeeeeeeks. I did not notice that I was on SSH v1, which is known to be compromised. So I generated new crypto keys, and set SSH v2, and that was that, they have not been in...

Thermaltake's Core P7 TG Spans 1.35m With Wings Wide Open

As an owner of a P7, I'd say people would more likely have 3x 480mm rads on that, not 3x 360mm rads. And to those that think there is no point, think of a dual-xeon server board, with 2x160W CPUs, and up to 4-way GPUs in an E-ATX sized board. This would work. I don't expect my single 480mm...

Creators Update Improves Windows 10 Update Process, Privacy Settings

@ TANYAC Right on - when you login with an MS account, the deed is done, data is already gathered. And there was no word on the key-logging either. One of the big arguments FOR W10 was DX12. To play with DX12 too, I put Win Ser 2016 on my machine (think W10 without the forced updates &...

Can Nintendo's $299 Switch Stand Against The PS4 And XB1?

Some interesting comments here, but all are asked / posited with the learning of a Toms / Anand reader. Many parents have no clue on tech stuff, (how many Toms readers have you met in the street? Me? One.), and know Nintendo as a good brand to buy for their children, when out buying toys. So...

Samsung Updates NVMe SSD Driver To Version 2.1

@ nycalex So, double the speed I'm getting. Well I know my m/b has its connector for my 960 Evo connected by PCIe 2.0 x4, so I think that is 2.2Gb/s of available bit rate, so I have a direct PCIe to NVME adapter in the post. Will report back in a week or so when it arrives.

Samsung Updates NVMe SSD Driver To Version 2.1

@ Tanyac & Engineer: I just checked my unpacked folder, and there are drivers there for Win 7 / 8 / 10.
