Thanks a lot! I just went into Bios and enabled the IGD option to run displays through the motherboard, installed the latest Intel graphics driver, and voila. 4 main monitors and no issues when putting on the Rift.

So, I've learned that the limit of screens on a GTX 1080 is 4 monitors. I have a triple monitor setup running at 1080p each, and configured with Nvidia Surround. Then I have a TV mounted above those monitors running at 1080p as well. These work fine together and won't cause any issues. However...

I'm not sure that I mentioned, but the battery light indicator still blinks and will not charge the battery even if the laptop is off. So it's also not the problem that the charger doesn't have enough power to charge the extra capacity battery and run the laptop.
