When you start using the keyboard and mouse it should start going to them as default. The same as if you're using a controller and you type something the controls change to the PC controls rather than Xbox. Just refrain from putting any input into the joystick if you can.

You'll need a Hard drive. I recommend an SSD as it will increase load times . The case is a motherboard is mini ITX I would recommend getting a ATX with a ATX compatible case as it will be easier for a first build. You will also need some fans if none are included with case and maybe a few...

It could of just been a error. You should only really start worrying if it becomes more common.

Maybe further components are also broken? Try replacing each gradually to troubleshoot and find the issue.
