The cable im using is labeled as a "SATA" cable, printed right on the psu-side end of it. I'm also plugging it into the psu's sockets that are also labeled "SATA/perif" Does that not mean that it is the correct one I should be using? I'm not super educated on this stuff, apologies.

Could that be the case? I have an EVGA 1000w G2 psu as well that I could try in place of the current one, I just dont know if it would fry the hdd since its much more powerful, or is that not something that can happen?
