Migrating from one SSD to another

You should be able to use Disk Manager to associate a drive letter (it is possible to create partitions without a drive letter, which you apparently accidentally did).

    PLEX/home NAS setup

I'm just throwing this out there, but unless you get a LSi card or something with a good cache that is going to cost at least 100usd used, you're better off using software raid. I'd even argue that if you are not running a live DB or something with extreme random access, then software raid is...

Yes, or create those 2 partions yourself then copy the data respectively. You could use the old 128GB as a dedicated backup drive, rotating 3 or 4 images of the OS and EFI partitions, thus leaving partitions 4 and 5 off the new drive. Anyways, you got it.

    HELP locked SSD

Pop up? Where, in the OS or at boot? There are lists of default passwords on the net if it is a default password, there are script utilities as well that will attenpt brute force. What are the circumstances under which you bought/acquired it? What is the model and revision?

    Clone 1 and 2, expand 2, copy 3 to 2 or a new 3.

Failing to clone drive - MFT Error

There is a table of S.M.A.R.T. checks here... S.M.A.R.T. Any critical ones are obviously bad foreshadowing and S.M.A.R.T. doesn't cover everything, you could have a bad serial connection.

Power Supply For Adding Second HD

Might need a molex to sata power adapter, I'd plan on it if that is the original drive. If it is the original drive, it might have a sata hdd, but could be using a molex connection to power it (older sata drives had both molex and sata).

Beginner building a NAS for accessing data over internet, need some help please

All the latest NAS distros are plugin based., so... I haven't seen the Synology spec sheet in years, but what could it possibly do that a BSD or Linux cannot? Last I checked, you basically bought a Synology box for the name, case and peconfiguration.

    Photoshop and disk usage

Not sure it will stop the flashing, but to stop the thrashing use imdisk and create 8 to 16GB virtual drive then map all caches, scratcges, etc. to it. Can help performance too.

Beginner building a NAS for accessing data over internet, need some help please

Gotcha. Your VPN will be fine. And yes, I think your all fine as well, now just to configuration of software :-) FreeNAS and OMV seem to be the go to. While I prefer OMV, FreeNAS systems can also run pfSense, which is not to be overlooked by any means. RAID1, yes. Others rave about other RAID...

Beginner building a NAS for accessing data over internet, need some help please

If you really need a NAS and the files it will house are irreplaceable and one of a kind, use ECC. That said, it sounds like you just want to stream media. I don't use PLEX for this, but I hear it works. For the OS I use OpenMediaVault since Linux has much more to offer up than BSD in terms of...

    is my build a mistake

Try the GPU first. Bottlenecks are not always observable. The "tick, tock" CPU iterations are basically a purchasing sink hole.
