RAM may be vulnerable to high frequency row hammer bit flips

Alright, thank you. Hopefully I really won't have BSODS :D and I still find it weird that Memtest shows this warning about row hammering only when both of the sticks are plugged!

Same TDP, but one CPU is much hotter than the other

Thank you, I think that the cooler plastic housing that is connected to the motherboard is a bit bent so the heatsink doesn't completely touches the CPU heat spreader, that's why it was just enough for the e5400 and barely for the E8500, but you pretty much answered everything :)

Same TDP, but one CPU is much hotter than the other

I just replaced a Pentium E5400 with a Core Duo E8500, and while both of them has the same TDP, the E5400 runs idle at around 35C, and under load it reaches the 60's, and the E8500 runs 50C in idle, and 70+ under load. I know that the cooler is not the best, but the question is. Could the E8500...

Is there a proof of the NAND Crisis?

Is there a proof that there really is shortage, and not based on the manufacturer's words alone, but an unbiased investigation conducted? Maybe it was just easy to increase the prices all of a sudden and try to maintain them at this new price level for more profit? It's not that I don't want the...

RAM may be vulnerable to high frequency row hammer bit flips

Thank you, but as jasonkaler said it might cause crashes and BSODS, that would then be my main concern if exploiting it is virtually impossible. And it's weird that it appears only when both of the sticks are in, why is that happening? I mean, at first I thought that the used stick I bought is...

Is this the regular Samsung 840 Pro?

I gave them the HAFV-0BW00, and I have serial for it, not the BW, It's a HAFV-0BW00 with a consumer serial number, as you said. I didn't tell them the serial number yet, only the model HAFV-0BW00, will try again and now with the serial numbe And the HAFV-0BW00 looks exactly like the BW, and not...

Is this the regular Samsung 840 Pro?

Sorry, my bad, not MZ7PD128HAFV-000D1, which you're right, is a DELL OEM, but I was referring to MZ7PD128HAFV-0BW00, which looks like a regular consumer drive (you can look up for its photos in Google or eBay)

SSD encryption ability vs OS encryption

Sometimes when I want to buy an SSD I see that some has the "AES 256-bit hardware-based encryption". But OS like Ubuntu for example have an option to encrypt the data even for regular HDD, so I guess that you can encrypt even SSDs that don't have this AES encryption? What would be the...

RAM may be vulnerable to high frequency row hammer bit flips

I can't change timings on my laptop, and how can I turn off dual channel? (But I bought the same stick for the dual channel performance :p) I haven't swapped them yet, however I did test each individually in the slot where the original RAM was placed(when I got no errors), and now they're...

RAM may be vulnerable to high frequency row hammer bit flips

I bought a new(*edit: new for me, but used condition :p) RAM stick for my laptop, identical memory stick (exactly same model number), to get the best dual channel results. It's a 4GB stick of ram. (currently with 8GB) I ran memtest86, (not memtest86+), and I got this note: [Note] RAM may be...

Is this the regular Samsung 840 Pro?

Yep, contacted the US support, gave them the MZ7PD128HAFV-000D1, they had no idea what this is, but haven't given them the serial number, but if I try with that one they will find something? The region doesn't matter because I found that on eBay, and they kept recommending "do not buy SSDs from...

CPU temp reaches 85 degrees Celsius after 2 minutes

Thanks guys, I want to stress test my laptop because it's already 2.5 years old, and when I do abit higher demanding tasks than normal (gaming) the fan starts to run fast with temps reaching the 80's Celsius, so I wonder if after 2.5 years the thermal paste has gone bad and I should replace it...

Will my motherboard be able to use this SSD?

    Update: It works :D
