    running some cpe210/cpe510 which rely on poe and mounted these without any additional protection. only used 'flat' ethernet-cables to get 'through' windows/doors.

    try disabling 'jumbo frames' on ethernet.

    @93boba (r)syslog transfer is not crypted, since you seem to take care of security. you should enable some sort of 'vpn' between these hosts - maybe just tunnel through ssh.
