    New mobo/CPU. XP/Win7 32bit - Install from scratch???

Well.... got the mobo, CPU and everything together. Here's what happened = WinXP: Crapped out With a BSOD 7B, consistently, every time. Win7: Same as XP. Tried switching the mobo into 'slow' mode but that didn't help. Couldn't get into safe mode on either system. XP recovery couldn't happen...

    New mobo/CPU. XP/Win7 32bit - Install from scratch???

I have an XP install disk that I've slipstreamed various the drivers and the 3 service packs onto. It should be interesting to say the least. lol. I'll post my results on here when it's up and running again.

    New mobo/CPU. XP/Win7 32bit - Install from scratch???

The mobo has arrived; just waiting on the rest of it which should get here sometime this week. The board doesn't have a DVI or VGA port so I've had to get a displayport/VGA adapter as it sits on my old 8-way KVM switch with the other 5 PC's on my desk. Hoping to rebuild it over the weekend...

I cant choose the correct screen resolution

That res isn't really good. My TV can do that. There are many brands that are quite good. Look at the max res the monitor will support and what inputs it has at the back. It should at least have a VGA and a DMI socket and maybe a HDMI. Also take note of the refresh latency. Many monitors are...

    New mobo/CPU. XP/Win7 32bit - Install from scratch???

I've been building & installing stuff since PC'S hit the market, long before the invention of mouse, HD and colour monitors. I'll probably have to hunt down some reference drivers from various sources - wouldn't be the first time. I already have XP installed on an IX48 mobo. We'll see what I...

I cant choose the correct screen resolution

Something slightly lower in resolution. Or... double check your refresh frequency. If it's above 72Hz, clock it down a tad - if necessary, right down to 72Hz and see if that is your problem. Try the next setting down. Keep going down one setting at a time until you find one that is nice and...

Swapping MOBO's of the same manufacture; sysprep necessary, or no?

You are assuming that both boards have the same chipset. Have you double and triple checked that they actually DO use exactly the same chipset or are you guessing because it's from the same manufacturer?

I want to connect H80i directly to PSU_FAN and not CPU_FAN. Then use the CPU_FAN as another 3 pin fan controller.

I still say its a recipe for disaster. Sure, the H80 controls the speed of the internal pump for the controlling but it gets it's temperature sensor info from the CPU Fan header and makes the necessary adjustments for the fact it's a water pump as well as the radiator fans. What if the ambient...

Swapping MOBO's of the same manufacture; sysprep necessary, or no?

I concur with USAFRet. Just because it's made by the same manufacturer doesn't mean all the drivers or even enough of them are of the same. Usually, when a manufacturer makes a board, there could well be quite a number of different chipsets on it and not just the usual suspects. Unless it's an...
