If that's the case, then it sounds like you'd make use of an i7's extra threads sometimes. Price difference may be worth it to you.

For gaming, as far as I know, i7 CPUs are still overkill as most games will not make use of 8 threads, so you may want to look at the latest generation of i5 CPUs. I'm a fan of overlocking, so I would look at this one for future OCing needs...
