I disagree with current answer. Linux has plenty of games. Any game that runs on 8 year pc with vista will also run trough wine. I myself enjoy older games, such as Warcraft 2,3, Heroes 4, Disciples 2. Warcrafts run the same on Win7, 8, and Ubuntu. H4and D2 run much much faster on Ubuntu.

Try installing without gpu, and later you could install nvidia drivers.

Now I disable the HDD trough Device Manager. It still keeps spinning after 5 minutes.
